It was a great honor to host and celebrate with the UNICEF Malawi Social and Behaviour Change Regional Advisor at Kaphaizi School in Kasungu district
Together with other stakeholders, we celebrated community support influenced by Learners Council at the School to hold duty bearers accountable for omission of their mandates to support education
This has among others contributed to reduced absenteeism in the current academic year (from 20 percent to 2 percent for boys and 9 to 3 percent for girls ), improved transition and pass rate from 72 to 92 percent
The Learners Councils are being empowered by DCT through a UNICEF Malawi funded intervention under the United Nations Joint Programme for Girls’ Education III (UNJPGE III)
The UNJPGE III has been supporting Malawi Government through Ministry of Education – Malawi to ensure realization of girls’ and boys’ rights to quality, inclusive and equitable education and life skills-Learning for All
